Santander-backed company, Tresmares Capital – a Spanish independent private capital fund manager, has initiated a new evergreen fund with £725m in committed capital, and a new office in London, which will be run by Philippe Arbour, as CEO and Managing Partner.
Tresmares Capital
Tresmares Capital is a private equity firm established in Madrid, Spain. The firm renders direct investments in small and medium enterprises through private equity, custom-made private debt, and formal debt.
Tresmares Capital was initially established in Spain, in recognition that the market for growth capital was inadequately provided with the required service.
Its founding partners created the business as a one-stop shop for private capital in support of growing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). And it has since risen up and quickly became one of the biggest independent private capital fund managers in Iberia, with capital commitments of €2.4 billion, and has the support of Santander (a Spanish multinational financial services company based in Madrid) as its largest Limited Partner.
Tresmares’ method is sector agnostic, targeting growing businesses, generally with an EBITDA (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) in the range of £2-10m.
Tresmares Capital launches evergreen fund in the UK
Tresmares recently expands into the United Kingdom and this expansion into the UK offers a large target market including some 25,000 high-growth SMEs aided by a strong community of financial sponsors.
The new fund, Tresmares Capital UK, will deliver a suite of products varying across direct lending, senior and junior, and bridges to capital calls or equity syndication.
This UK evergreen fund will also deliver preferred equity or co-investment alongside entrepreneurs, management teams, and private equity owners. And as the fund doesn’t undertake majority buyouts, it does not contend with its private equity clients.
Tresmares oversees numerous private capital mandates including direct debt and equity investments into SMEs and with its new UK move, the firm has the capability to write cheques between £10 million to £50 million from the fund with the ability for larger deals of up to £70 million for multi-product deals, including bridges to capital calls or equity syndication, and/or preferred equity investments.
Tresmares Capital is a pan-European growth-focused alternative investment firm operating in Spain, Portugal, and now, the “United Kingdom”.
